Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry (DGICh, ukr. КЗНХ) is one of the oldest one of the oldest departments of the National Technical University of Ukraine Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute and was established with the founding of the university in 1898. During its existence such prominent scholars as L.V. Pisarzhevskii, V.A. Plotnikov, V.A. Izbekov, V.V. Udovenko, O.N. Stepanenko were working here. Currently, the department is headed by Professor Oleksandr O. Andriiko.
DGICh provides training for students in the disciplines of "Chemistry", "General Chemistry", "General and inorganic chemistry", "Chemistry and elektroradiomaterials" "Properties of chemical elements and their compounds," on the vast majority of faculties of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv polytechnic institute. The educational process is conducted by two professors, 13 associate professors, 4 assistant professors and 5 teaching assistants.
Department's research interests: theoretical and applied research of complex compounds of d-elements, synthesis and study of properties of nanostructured materials, development of materials for improved energy storage (Li-ion battery) and others.
